WHY SENSORY AWARENESS?
People spend most of their day inside their ivory tower, between their ears.
IS THAT SOMETIMES WRONG?
Life is definitely not one-sided. Being one-sided throws you off balance. You’ll be less healthy and happy.
SO, WHAT SHOULD I DO THEN?
Just acknowledge what is. Get to know your body, here and now. Not just during exercise, sex, and eating.
Be aware, be present. Feel what you feel, hear what you hear, see what you see, smell what you smell, and taste what you taste. You don’t have to follow a specific order. What comes to you first, and then, and then, and then… Let the observer be the thing that’s being observed: shift your full attention to the body, the senses. Do this 24/7. Perhaps you’ll only manage to do this once a day, to surrender completely. You don’t need to analyze your own mind first, simply transcend your thinking mind by completely shifting your attention.
Afterwards, you’ll notice that more space and silence will come into your life, in a completely natural way.
DOES THIS JUST SEEM LIKE MINDFULNESS?
Certainly, but there are some aspects to it that may be less well-known.
For example: don’t practice any other form of meditation besides Naga Meditation: simply focus on your senses 24/7 without following a specific order (or hierarchy).
So, don’t focus specifically on breathing or working from the crown of your head to your toes, and so on. NM starts from what is and what first comes to you completely spontaneously. This could be anything: sounds on the street, the growling in your stomach, a tickle in your nose, a taste in your mouth, and so on.
DISCLAIMER
There is no way to the Truth but if there was a way it would definitely be Naga Meditation, sensory awareness.
